Woman pays $24 for a slice of cake from Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse in Chicago. Then she opens the bag: ‘ Princess treatment ain’t free’

The $24 price tag for a single slice suddenly made a whole lot more sense.

Sometimes we all need a sweet treat, even if it’s a little expensive. A slice of cake might not be good for you but it sure does taste good. Well one woman on TikTok thought exactly that when she decided to DoorDash herself some food from Gibson’s Steakhouse, however, what she got wasn’t exactly what she thought she bargained for.

TikToker Madison Waller decided to order DoorDash from Gibson’s Steakhouse after hearing amazing things about the food from there. When she got to the checkout she was faced with one final temptation as the app offered her a slice of carrot cake.

The cake was kind of pricey

What was most interesting about this piece of carrot cake in particular was that a single slice was priced at $24. That seems like an awful lot for just one slice and Madison initially thought to herself, “$24 ain’t cheap”, however, “princess treatment ain’t free,” so she decided to add it to the cart.

When the royal cake slice arrived Madison quickly discovered why it had cost so much as her DoorDasher handed her two bags, with one of the bags being particularly heavy. “I’m thinking god, what is this? Could it be the cake slice?” She opens the box to reveal a cake slice the size of a small country. Okay, that’s a little hyperbolic but it is a very large slice.

“It’s a centerpiece. They sent me a quarter of the cake. This is for a family of nine.” Madison explains, evidently a little bit miffed that she didn’t quite get what she was expecting.

At least the cake looks tasty

Madison gave Gibson’s Steakhouse “24 hours to respond,” and while she didn’t get a response from the restaurant she did get plenty of comments including one from the official DoorDash account asking Madison if she liked the cake.

Not everyone saw this huge cake slice as a bad thing, “I’m confused because you’re talking like you’re upset but I don’t see any problem here,” wrote one viewer in the comment section. Others joked that $24 was in fact cheap for the amount of cake that she ended up getting. More than a few thought they were up to the challenge of eating the huge slice in one sitting, “All I need is tall glass of cold oat milk, a hair tie and some privacy,” reads one comment.

Many offered Madison some advice, suggesting that she could freeze the cake and treat herself for a week. A second video shows Madison sitting down to eat the “10lb carrot cake” although it’s not clear whether or not she actually did eat the whole thing.
