A woman said in a TikTok video that a Walmart loss prevention employee accused her of stealing and walked her toward the office. She posted the clip under the caption “Walmart loss prevention is treating me like a criminal!!” and filmed from behind a shopping cart as the exchange began.
The employee, shown in the video as a man in a maroon T-shirt and backward black cap, told her, “Okay, you can record me all you want.” She replied, “Good, let’s go.” He then said, “Let’s go to my office then,” and gestured for her to follow. She asked why he was treating her that way, and he responded that she needed to know why she was treating him like this. He asked, “Can you go to the office, please?” and she said, “I’m going.”
As they walked, the woman stated, “Don’t treat me like a f–king criminal, cuz I’m not. Never stolen anything in my 45 years, thank you.” She offered to show a list of receipts on her app and said she shopped at the store almost daily, adding that this would stop. She also mentioned items in her cart, including an iPad and shorts that were wet from work, and told him he could look through her things.
A price check on a Lion Guard item shifted the exchange
The employee then said, “Okay, the lion isn’t on your receipt.” The woman asked, “Really?” and he confirmed, “Yeah, it isn’t.” She asked where it was, and he stated that the lion cost $15. She replied that she did not see anything on the receipt for $15 and that it was $7. He said, “No, it isn’t. I just looked.”
The woman asked, “Really? What’s the price on it? Huh? You’re telling me it’s $15? It’s $7, right? According to your website, it’s $7, and according to the price tag.” She added, “And you’re gonna sit here and make me look like a f–king criminal?” He answered, “It’s $15.”
In a Part 2 TikTok video, she continued the exchange and challenged him to ring the item up, saying he must think she had some magic way of ringing it up as $7. The employee placed the toy back in the cart and said, “I don’t feel like doing it.”
She responded that he had made her look like an idiot and called him a “piece of sh–t,” stating it would be the last time she shopped at the store. She said the situation would go all over the news and told him to leave, adding that she would never shop there again after the encounter. It resembles another viral Walmart price tag confrontation that sparked debate over security.
According to Groupon, Walmart treats its online store and physical locations as separate entities with their own pricing strategies. Online prices can reflect shipping costs, warehouse operations, and digital promotions, while in-store prices can factor in local competition, real estate costs, and inventory management. The guide noted that the Walmart app includes a Store Mode feature that lets people scan a barcode inside a store and view both the in-store price and the online price side by side.
In the TikTok, the woman pointed to the website and the price tag as showing $7 for the Lion Guard item while the employee maintained that it was $15. She also shared a caption on the second clip that read, “He thinks I have a magic way of ringing the item up to a cheaper price! This is a lawsuit!”
Viewers who watched the clips focused on the price gap that came up during the confrontation. One commenter questioned how the item could be listed at one amount yet scan differently, writing, “If it was 15 dollars, why did it ring up for 7?” Another pointed to broader differences in how prices appear for different shoppers, saying, “How can they do this when the pricing is different for everyone now.”
A third suggested a simple response if the same situation happened to them: “nope. any time this happens just return it all.” One more claimed that prices can shift while a customer is still inside the store, writing, “They literally change the prices while you’re in store! Crooked!” That claim echoes another shopper’s story of a price changing before checkout.
