Woman screams at boyfriend for dancing with a bridesmaid. Then the confrontation gets completely out of hand: ‘Do you understand me?’

People on TikTok are split over who was in the wrong.

A TikTok that appears to show a couple arguing after the boyfriend allegedly danced with a bridesmaid has sparked an online discussion about who was in the wrong. While some on TikTok have argued that the boyfriend was in the wrong for dancing with someone else, others have claimed that the girlfriend’s behavior was controlling.

The viral clip was shared by the TikTok account “Top Tier State,” although it’s unclear who the original poster was. The person recording shows what appears to be an empty wedding reception before pointing his camera at a door, behind which a man and woman can be heard shouting at each other.

The woman’s voice pierces the silence of the room outside, accusing the boyfriend of being unfaithful: “I hope you know that. Do you understand me?” she yells. The man responds, a little quieter, saying what sounds like, “I haven’t f—ing touched you.”

The caption in the video explains that the “Girlfriend is p—ed that her boyfriend danced with a bridesmaid she apparently doesn’t like,” and adds that it is “Maybe just a bit of an overreaction IDK.”

Plenty of commenters saw where the woman was coming from as they asked questions such as, “why was he dancing with a bridesmaid she doesn’t like?” Another commenter claimed that the man “doesnt respect her boundaries [and is] clearly driving her crazy.”

However, others had an entirely different perspective on the matter, claiming that the woman’s shouting sounded like “abuse.” One person claimed that her behavior was “Never okay,” and that it was “100% abuse,” adding that “He should leave immediately.” Another viewer who apparently listened to the audio a little more carefully said, “Ya’ll missing the part where he said she hit him and she continues to threaten to hit him?”

Most were in agreement that the relationship was toxic one way or another. Some took a more neutral position, noting how, “at no point have groomsmen and bridesmaids ever been required to dance with their match up.” but admitting that the woman’s response was “definitely an over reaction.”

A few acknowledged the abuse but claimed that the woman’s behavior was “reactive abuse.” According to charliehealth.com, reactive abuse is when “The abuser deliberately provokes their partner, pushing them to react in anger or frustration.”

Of course, all of this psychoanalysis and speculation is coming from a 15-second clip, so it’s hard to really conclude who was really in the wrong and what issues this couple may be facing in their relationship. People on TikTok love to speculate, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they know what’s going on here.
