Woman wakes up and checks her Chime account for her balance. Then she sees 170 Cash App transactions to a stranger and an alleged $500 loan

She woke up to a drained Chime account

Jessica Davis said in her TikTok video that she woke up around 7 a.m. one Saturday and checked her Chime account, only to discover it had been completely drained. She explained that she normally does not post videos like this but felt desperate to share what happened and ask for advice after finding the account empty.

She claimed she found over 170 transactions, with most of them being the same type of Cash App transfer from her Chime account to an account under the name Arian Weaver. Davis stated the amounts began with several around $28 before dropping to $27 and continuing lower until the balance was gone.

Davis said the activity started at 4:55 a.m. while she was asleep. She claimed the person also completed two cash advance transactions, one for $57 and one for $231, along with an alleged $500 loan from Chime at a 30 percent interest rate that set up automatic payments beginning in October. She stated the total taken was around $3,200.

Details from the security emails and dispute process she described

In a follow-up TikTok video, Davis held up printed emails she said she received that morning. She stated the first one arrived at 4:55 a.m. and notified her that the phone number on her Chime account had been updated to a number ending in 1624, which she said was not hers.

She said another email at 4:56 a.m. reported a new login from a Samsung SM-F7660 device located in Brooklyn, New York. Davis explained that a later message at 5:15 a.m. indicated a complete direct deposit form was attached, and she assumed it related to a cash advance. Davis’s troubles go beyond the account changes, as an Alabama woman found an unauthorized charge after ordering Domino’s.

She stated that at 5:32 a.m. she received notices that a device had been removed from the account, listing one as unknown in Washington, D.C., and another as an Apple iPhone 12 also in Washington, D.C. Davis said she lives in Georgia and did not authorize any of the changes, including a password update she also received notice of.

Davis said she immediately called Chime to dispute the charges and went to her local sheriff’s department to file a police report, which she uploaded with the disputes. She claimed Chime approved the dispute for the $231 cash advance but denied the $57 cash advance four times even after she appealed each time. For Davis, the troubles don’t stop at Cash App transactions, as an Idaho woman ignored an 80-cent charge and 19998 vanished from her joint savings.

She stated the larger dispute covering nearly $3,200 was denied, and representatives told her there was nothing else they could do unless she provided more documentation. Davis said one agent hung up on her after she asked what else she could possibly submit. She explained that she also filed complaints with the CFPB, IC3, the FTC, and the Better Business Bureau.

Davis said in the second video that she got married last month but had previously been a single mom living on one income for several years, so the money was significant to her. She stated she has a local bank account and had been planning to move her funds from Chime before this happened. She claimed Chime told her she was not the only person this had happened to and that other cases involved a Samsung phone, while she uses an iPhone, and uploaded proof of that.

Viewers left comments on the first video. One wrote, “As a banker, PLEASE stop using Chime and Cash App! I see this constantly!! Go to a real financial institution!!” Another stated, “This literally just happened to me this morning 161 transactions.” A different commenter said, “You need to file a police report.”
