According to Reuters, Elway was driving a golf cart when Sperbeck, 61, fell off the back of the moving vehicle and hit his head on the asphalt. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and placed on life support. Doctors determined there was no hope for recovery, and Sperbeck passed away on Wednesday, April 30. According to TMZ, Sperbeck was unconscious but still breathing when help arrived.

Elway and Sperbeck worked together for more than 30 years

Elway and Sperbeck shared a professional relationship that spanned over three decades. Sperbeck represented Elway during his illustrious NFL career and later co-founded the winery 7Cellars with him in 2013. Sperbeck was a certified NFL agent who represented more than 100 players throughout his career.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have not indicated any wrongdoing on Elway’s part, and the accident is being treated as a tragic mishap.
