Two Detroit sisters have been charged with stabbing a restaurant worker after an alleged dispute over an incorrect food order at a Detroit chicken restaurant, according to WDIV. The accused, Brianna Long, 29, and Kierianna Long, 26, now reportedly face multiple serious charges in connection with the incident.
According to prosecutors, the sisters entered the restaurant, went behind the counter, and attacked a 23-year-old employee after they received the wrong order. The employee was allegedly stabbed in the stomach with a knife and had to be taken to the hospital for surgery.
Brianna was reportedly nine months pregnant at the time of the alleged attack. She gave birth four days before her arraignment, according to her attorney. At her court appearance, she pleaded with the judge, saying she was innocent and had a four-day-old baby at home.
The sisters allegedly threw hot grease, pots, and pans at the employee before she fled and hid in a stranger’s vehicle
According to prosecutors, the two sisters allegedly threw items at the restaurant employee, chased her through the restaurant, and hit her with pots and pans during the incident. They also allegedly attempted to throw hot grease on the employee’s head.
During the alleged attack, one of the sisters reportedly said, “I’m going to k–l you.” Prosecutors said it was Kierianna who allegedly stabbed the employee in the stomach with a knife. Disputes between customers and food service workers over orders have been making headlines, such as a recent case of a customer demanding free food then discarding it after staff declined to waive the bill.
After being stabbed, the employee ran out of the restaurant and hid inside a stranger’s vehicle while calling for help, according to Fox News. The sisters allegedly fled the scene following the attack. Prosecutors said they were later taken into custody by police. Food-related disagreements can spiral in unexpected ways, as seen in another recent story where a woman regretted offering to pay for someone’s pricey dessert at a restaurant.
Prosecutors also said that Brianna and Kierianna Long now each face charges of assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon. WDIV says Brianna was held on a $25,000 cash bond, while Kierianna was held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Defense attorneys for the sisters pushed back against the prosecution’s account in court. They argued that the restaurant employee had triggered the confrontation by saying she did not “give a f—” about the wrong order, and that the employee had thrown items, including knives, at the sisters first.
The defense’s account differs from what prosecutors have alleged. The competing versions of events will likely be central to how the case proceeds in court. Both sisters have reportedly pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against them.
