Our 5 Favorite Episodes From Season 1 Of Beauty And The Beast

The CW's Beauty and the Beast isn't exactly the Disney classic you grew up with (or, that I grew up with), and hopefully you're not too young to know what I'm referring to. Instead of a misunderstood bookworm, you get a brave and equally intelligent New York City detective. In the place of a cursed prince, you get a genetically altered super soldier. Where there were magically transformed household supplies for periphery characters, you get a protective partner, an overzealous sister, and a biochemistry professor for a best friend.

Cat’s had a difficult run of things when it comes to family matters. Her mother was killed right in front of her, and recently, some information had surfaced about the events that led to her death that isn’t exactly congruent with what Cat’s always believed.

On this episode of Beauty and the Beast, which served as the mid-season finale, Cat dons a maid of honor dress not for one of her friends, but for her father’s wedding. She’s given her future step-mother the tenth degree and is starting to accept the idea of another woman in her father’s life.

Leading up to the wedding, despite Cat trying to take some time off for wedding prep, Vincent (Jay Ryan) comes to her with a potential case. When she and Tess look into it, they come right to the doorstep of a matchmaking agency. This results in some undercover work under the convenient cover of needing a wedding date. However, Cat discovers the truth based on a tip she got from, of all places, the bridesmaid brunch she reluctantly hosted.

When the disgruntled matchmaker found herself with the thought of unhappily ever after as her future, she comes after Cat. Conveniently, Cat had left the wedding to go after Vincent. There’s a car crash, shots are fired, and Cat ends up on death’s door.

Action, excitement, drama – what’s not to like!
