7 Ways Batman Could Join The Arrowverse

Supergirl’s second season premiere marked a huge moment in the history of the Arrowverse as it saw the first appearance of Superman, as played by Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin. Apart from anomalies like The Flash, this is a rare major instance of a character currently being used by the movie division allowed to crossover to the TV world.

Batman Beyond

Sadly, it’s probably true that Batman would be one of the most – if not the most – difficult DC hero to get the rights to. With both Gotham featuring a young Bruce Wayne and Ben Affleck playing the fully-fledged Batman in the movies, the character is tied up in multiple places elsewhere. Still, just because Bruce Wayne might be off the table doesn’t mean the Arrowverse can’t feature Batman. One idea is to include Bruce’s successor in the role – Terry McGinnis AKA Batman Beyond.

In case you don’t know, Terry originates from the fan favourite Batman Beyond animated series. Taking place in a cyberpunk future Gotham, it saw an elderly Bruce train up the wayward teen to take on the mantle of Batman – complete with a hi-tech suit with flight and invisibility.

The natural way to get Terry into the Arrowverse would be for him to show up on Legends of Tomorrow. One of Legends’ best season one episodes was “Star City 2046”, which visited a future version of Green Arrow’s home city. An episode in this vein set in a future Gotham would make for a fantastic instalment of the show and a worthy first dip into the Batman mythology.

Like Nightwing, this would also bring a character who has never featured in live-action into the limelight – which is basically Legends’ MO.
