During the New York Comic-Con this weekend, it was revealed that Toyman is coming to season one of Supergirl. Of course, he’s not exactly the most exciting of villains, but the latest addition to the cast of the CBS series may give you a greater reason to be excited for what’s to come in the show, which will chronicle the adventures of Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El.

The Hollywood Reporter has today revealed that Transporter: The Series star Chris Vance has landed a recurring role in Supergirl as Non, a character described as a former scientist in a league with the House of El. Non is a brutal Kryptonian military officer who is sinister, powerful and angry. He’s the antithesis of all things Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) stands for and will quickly become her greatest threat.

Non’s role in the series was first mentioned back in August, and it was revealed at the time that this take on the villain would be quite a bit different to the version featured in Richard Donner’s Superman II. It definitely sounds like that’s going to be the case, and giving Supergirl a formidable foe like this from her home planet has a lot of interesting storytelling potential.

Other recent notable casting additions to the series include Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Lucy Lane), Glenn Morshower (Sam Lane), Iddo Goldberg (Red Tornado), and Peter Facinelli (Maxwell Lord). Villains like Livewire and Reactron have also been cast though, so this is clearly going to be a very busy year for Supergirl.
