New Gotham Season 5 Poster Promises That Batman’s Coming

Gotham is reaching its end next year with the 10-part fifth season and you know what that means – Batman’s finally coming to the FOX prequel series. Bruce Wayne’s destiny as the Dark Knight has been hinted in myriad ways over the past few seasons, including a spectral vision of the Bat during a hallucination in season 4, but it’s been confirmed that he’ll 100% suit up as the Caped Crusader by the time things wrap up for good in the series finale.

And just so we don’t forget, this new banner for Gotham‘s fifth season reminds us in big fiery letters that “The Dark Knight Is Coming.” Featuring the cast all standing in front of the decimated city, the banner reintroduces Gothams core group of heroes, villains and everything in between.

From left to right, we have Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Eduardo Torrance/Bane (Shane West), Edward Nygma/Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee), Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Chris Chalk (Lucius Fox),  Jeremiah Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Selina Kyle (Carmen Bicondova).

We already know that Gotham‘s finale will jump forward ten years, thereby showing us the city and all its citizens in their usual places in the Batman mythology. So, Jim Gordon will likely have his mustache, Penguin and Riddler will look like they do in the comics and Bruce will likely be seen standing on a rooftop dressed in a cape and a cowl with distinctive pointy ears.

Before we get to that moment, though, the 12-part season 5 will take a look at Gotham as a No Man’s Land, quarantined from the rest of the country and carved up between the various villains. Meanwhile, Bane will be introduced and Cameron Monaghan’s Jeremiah will get ever closer to becoming the Joker.

Be sure to sure to catch all that and more on Gotham when it returns to FOX on January 3rd.
