Jessica Henwick Returns To Training As Iron Fist Season 2 Looms

Jessica Henwick has confirmed that she's already training to prepare for the start of Iron Fist season 2, which is due to begin filming this year.

Having spent so long twiddling his thumbs in the shadows of Hell’s Kitchen, The Punisher has officially placed his crosshairs on a November 17th premiere date, meaning Frank Castle is the man of the hour within Marvel and Netflix’s camp.

But in the fallout of The Defenders, which undershot all expectations to become one of Netflix’s least-watched superhero series, the online streamer is now making preparations for a brand new batch of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Filming on Jessica Jones season 2 has already wrapped, and though David Tennant’s mind-bending villain was sent to meet his maker back in 2016, it’s since been confirmed that Kilgrave will continue to haunt the fractured mind of Jessica next year. Elsewhere, Daredevil recently welcomed the return of Wilson Fisk (AKA Kingpin), while the second season of Luke Cage will feature an upgraded version of Misty Knight.

That leaves Iron Fist. Truth be told, the Danny Rand solo series struggled to leave much of a first impression – even if it broke streaming records thanks to pent-up demand – but season 2 lends the show’s creators a shot at redemption. There’s also the promise of fresh blood, given Marvel has since drafted Raven Metzner (Elektra) in to replace Scott Buck (Inhumans) as showrunner.

And so, with production imminent, Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing) has posted an Instagram video to document her training regime. First spotted by ComicBook.com, you can find the full video log below:

Similar to Rosario Dawson and Deborah Ann Woll, Henwick held a supporting role in The Defenders, but despite a thinly-drawn subplot about a mystical sword, her character was unfairly sidelined when the going got tough.

Iron Fist season 2 will be a different story, though, and here’s that official caption from Wing herself:

Month 1 of getting back into shape for Iron Fist. The internal monologue: Ouch. This would be much easier if I’d just kept up training after S1. WHY DIDN’T I KEEP TRAINING. Eff this I’m calling my agent. You know what… I enjoy feeling stronger…But I’ve got a long way to go.

Preparation for Iron Fist season 2 is officially underway, and we understand Marvel plans to get the cameras rolling before the year’s end. It’s only a matter of time then before we catch a glimpse of Danny Rand sporting the classic costume, right?
