‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ upcoming ‘No Way Home’ style special gets its first trailer

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunite in this brand new Netflix trailer.

A brand new trailer for the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunion special has been released by Netflix. Not only does it bring back some familiar faces but our grown-up “teenagers with attitudes” are faced with an old threat.

The trailer, released by Netflix, also revealed the plot for the upcoming reunion special. Rita Repulsa returns as a threat to our rangers after finding a new body. It seems like her purification from Power Rangers In Space was undone and she plans to go back in time and kill the rangers before Zondon gave them their powers. This led to the Power Rangers reuniting thanks to the help of Alpha 5, and they are now tasked with stopping Rita from succeeding.

The new trailer featured a handful of Easter eggs. One featured a small tribute to Thuy Trang, who played Trini Kwan, the original Yellow Ranger in 1993 and passed away in 2001 due to a car accident. Charlie Kersh will play Minh Kwan, Trini’s daughter, who once appeared in Power Rangers Dino Fury. The trailer also featured locations that were part of other Power Rangers titles, such as references to Wild Force and Dino Thunder.

Unfortunately, not everyone from the original cast will be making a return for the upcoming reunion special. Back in January, Amy Jo Johnson (the original Pink Ranger) revealed that she’s not coming back because she “didn’t say yes” to what was offered, but she didn’t say no to the role. Also, ComicBook.com confirmed that Jason David Frank (the original Green Ranger) will not be part of the special following his death in 2022, but a tribute for the actor will be included.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, will be released on Netflix on April 19, 2023.
