Having powered down from a stellar inaugural season, one recognized during the Golden Globes, USA Networks is poised to welcome back Mr. Robot this summer when season 2 boots up on Wednesday, July 13.

News of the show’s return comes hot on the heels of an eerie trailer, featuring series protagonist Elliot Anderson (Rami Malek) breaking down the technical barriers between the Average Joe and the 1 percent of the 1 percent.

Series creator and showrunner Sam Esmail recently outlined the mental state of our lead character ahead of season 2’s arrival, revealing just how deeply last year’s finale impacted Elliot’s grip on reality.

“Now that Elliot is aware [of the truth about Mr. Robot], that has opened the door. We’re literally externalizing Elliot’s mentality and his inner conflict, Mr. Robot being the other half of Elliot,” executive producer Sam Esmail told EW. “In the first season, because Elliot wasn’t aware, there was a mystery about who Mr. Robot was and what his real motivations were. Now we know, so what does that mean? What does Elliot really want?”

Those of you who have yet to catch up on – let alone begin – USA’s award-winning Mr. Robot ought to tread lightly on the interwebs over the coming weeks, given the sheer magnitude of the twist featured in the season 1 finale. It opens up a whole new ball game for Elliot, with Rami Malek admitting that he braced himself for a tougher ride before going into the second batch of episodes.

Come July, Christian Slater reprises his role as the elusive Mr. Robot for the show’s sophomore run, flanked by Portia Doubleday and Carly Chaikin. In the newcomers camp are Joey Bada$$, Chris Conroy, Grace Gummer and Craig Robinson.

Mr. Robot season 2 has been locked for a premiere on July 13. Are you ready for the next chapter in Elliot’s revolt against the monolithic EvilCorp?
