The first season of Stranger Things was a sleeper hit in the making.

Launching with little-to-no fanfare and, with the exception of Winona Ryder, few big-name stars, Netflix’s 80s-themed sci-fi series touched down last summer and proved to be much, much more than the sum of its parts. Weaving elements of Stand By Me, The Goonies, and even Stephen King’s horror classic It into one nostalgic delight – replete with a killer synthetic soundtrack, we might add – the eight-part drama earned its place in Netflix’s pantheon of top-tier original series. And things are just getting started.

This Halloween, co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer will unleash season 2 of Stranger Things upon the world, and cordially invite subscribers back to the quaint town of Hawkins. But all is not well in Indiana. Will Byers may have escaped the clutches of the Upside Down, but that nightmarish parallel dimension has evidently scarred our young hero – mentally, if not physically – who is said to be nursing a potent case of PTSD by the time season 2 begins.

And with a four-to-five season arc on the cards, Stranger Things is about to cement its place as a Netflix mainstay. In anticipation of the show’s return in two months’ time, the online streamer has been staging a Things rewatch through the power of Twitter, allowing both newcomers and diehard fans to indulge in a little nostalgia ahead of October 27th. To coincide with that timely retrospective, Netflix also rolled out a series of candid behind-the-scenes shots featuring some of our favorites: Eleven, Barb, Mike, Hopper, and many, many more. Check them all out in the gallery up above.

Stranger Things season 2 kicks off on October 27th and, as promised, it’ll include one more episode than the first. But what are you most looking forward to? Indeed, are you excited to check in on Hawkins? Drop your thoughts in the comments section.
