Crisis On Infinite Earths Will Have More Supergirl/Batwoman Friendship

Ruby Rose made her Arrowverse debut as Batwoman in last year's crossover "Elseworlds" and Kate Kane immediately hit it off with one of the established heroes - Melissa Benoist's Supergirl. The two cousins of more famous male heroes were very much on the same page in the event miniseries and quickly formed a firm bond. It's good to know, then, that this friendship will be rekindled in this year's "Crisis on Infinite Earths."

Ruby Rose made her Arrowverse debut as Batwoman in last year’s crossover “Elseworlds” and Kate Kane immediately hit it off with one of the established heroes – Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl. The two cousins of more famous male heroes were very much on the same page in the event miniseries and quickly formed a firm bond. It’s good to know, then, that this friendship will be rekindled in this year’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

Speaking at the Batwoman panel at Comic-Con over the weekend, EP Caroline Dries teased that “Crisis” is currently being worked on and promised that there are “a ton, a ton, a ton of characters” involved in the crossover to end all crossovers. In fact, it was here that Dries revealed the news that Batman ’66 star Burt Ward would be returning to the DC universe in the event.

Despite the enormous list of heroes involved, Dries says that Kate and Kara’s relationship will get to evolve amidst the multiversal crisis

“We’re going to see that bond evolve into a Kate/Kara friendship,” she said.

At present, it seems that the two heroines will have to make do with a long-distance friendship as they live on separate Earths. However, there’s a good chance that “Crisis” will completely re-format the Arrowverse and streamline all the shows into one universe, so Supergirl may no longer be set on Earth-38 but on Earth-1 instead. If that’s the case, that could encourage more small-scale crossovers between the Girl of Steel and the rest of the series. Perhaps including Batwoman.

Another connection between the pair is that both Batwoman‘s debut season and Supergirl season 5 kick off on Sunday, October 6th on The CW. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” – also starring Brandon Routh as Superman, Jon Cryer’s Lex Luthor and many, many more – will then follow later on, stretching over both quarters and lasting for five episodes.
