For those unfamiliar with the show,Ā Star Wars Rebels is a CGI animated TV series – created by Simon Kinberg, Carrie Beck and Dave Filoni – that first premiered on the Disney Channel in 2014. It’s set in the Expanded Star Wars universe 14 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith, and sees the Empire methodically and systematically hunting down the remaining Jedi Knights and eliminating them.

Chilling and calculated, this brief glimpse of Thrawn is certainly promising, andĀ Lars Mikkelsen, who voices the character, lends a suitably unnerving tone to him. What exactly the villain will be up to in the show remains to be seen, but he certainly looks to be a menacing threat for the titular rebels and we’re excited to see more of him in a few weeks’ time, whenĀ Star Wars Rebels‘Ā third outing premieres on September 24th, 2016.
