The Queen of Thorns isn’t one to play by the rules; nor is she one to take kindly to another scheming matriarch jostling for a place on the proverbial food chain.

Truth be told, the sixth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones put Olenna Tyrell (Dame Diana Rigg) through the wringer, as she tried desperately to rescue her tortured grandchildren from the clutches of the High Sparrow. It’s only later on in the season that Olenna pleads with Cersei and the Small Council to take a stand against the oppressive church but here, in this never-before-seen deleted scene from Game of Thrones season 6, we see Olenna plot against Lena Headey’s Queen Mother with Mace Tyrell (Roger Ashton-Griffiths).

Hailing from Entertainment Weekly, the clip’s arrival signals the incoming Blu-ray and DVD release of Game of Thrones season 6, which is expected to swoop onto home video tomorrow, November 15. That lends fans of all things Westeros ample time to get caught up on all the goings-on of HBO’s fantasy flagship, which will return for a truncated seventh season a little later than usual due to unforeseen changes in weather.

Gearing up for a truly epic two-tier finale, we understand the network has nailed down plans for a further 13 episodes for Game of Thrones, at which point fans will bid adieu to HBO’s epic once and for all. Until the inevitable spinoffs, of course.

Game of Thrones will return for a shorter, and seemingly more intense seventh season in the summer of next year. Look for season 6 to make its debut on Blu-ray and DVD come November 15.
