Like those before it, 2015 was a busy year for the gaming industry, as it continues to grow and incorporate new technologies. Nothing ever stays dormant or quiet in an industry such as this, and there were no shortages of things to talk about throughout this last calendar year, including technical blunders, public relations screw-ups and various controversies. What we’ll remember most, though, are the games. After all, it’s the games that we’re all obsessed with, and the reason why this business exists.
As is the norm, there were many hits and just as many misses in 2015, ranging from highs like Until Dawn and Splatoon, to under-performers and disappointments like Evolve and the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. Thankfully, the highs outnumbered the lows and we gamers benefitted from another very good year of digital and interactive entertainment. It’s not to the point where I’d say that 2015Â was one of the best years in history, but it was very good nonetheless.
Having spent many hours gaming and writing about the hobby that I love, I wanted to take the time to congratulate some of this year’s best efforts by writing my very own best of 2015 list. It wasn’t easy to narrow the list down and put things in a specific order, but that’s a testament to how many good games have been released this year, as well as their individual qualities.
So, without further adieu, let’s get on to what matters.
