Rockstar Games has announced that the first official gameplay video for Grand Theft Auto Online, which is presumably the title of the online multiplayer mode in Grand Theft Auto V, will be released this Thursday, August 15th, 2013.

Outside of a very brief bit of tantalizing footage attached to the end of last month’s Grand Theft Auto V gameplay trailer, Rockstar has remained completely silent on exactly what we can expect to see inside Grand Theft Auto Online.

One interesting thing to note is that the title of the online multiplayer mode makes it sound as if it is something separate from GTA V — i.e. it is not titled Grand Theft Auto V Online. Could this mean that the online mode is actually its own standalone product, possible something along the lines of a quasi MMO?

All of the questions surrounding Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online should be answered during the upcoming world premiere trailer. We will keep an eye out for the release of the gameplay video this Thursday, and let you know as soon as we have all the details.
