Ben Affleck’s miserable night at the Grammys explained away by the weakest excuse imaginable

We're not buying why he was the most miserable man on the planet.

Thanks to the sheer look of abject misery on his face, the internet has been given countless new sad Ben Affleck memes to play with after the actor’s less-than-enthusiastic experience at the weekend’s Grammy Awards.

We’ve all been in the situation where we found ourselves forced to attend some kind of event, function, gala, gathering, or party that we’d really rather not go to, but the stakes are somewhat different when you’re married to Jennifer Lopez, sitting at the same table as Dwayne Johnson, and in full view of TV cameras beaming your reactions to millions around the globe.

The two-time Academy Award winner has already been praised for remaining in character as morose billionaire Bruce Wayne ahead of The Flash, but an alleged explanation for Affleck’s dejected expression has proven to be a lot less exciting, and infinitely lazier than anyone was hoping to hear.

As one of those mysterious “unnamed sources” put it to Entertainment Tonight, the real reason for his memeable mug was simply the fact he was tired.

“Jen and Ben had a fun date night out at the Grammys, but they have both been very busy working on several projects, and Ben was feeling tired. He wanted to go and support Jen, but he wasn’t his usual self.”

That’s about the most uninspiring way to try and sweep Affleck’s miserly evening under the rug, but even if he was struggling to keep himself awake, he’s been in the business long enough to know that he wouldn’t be able to get away with being so solemn under the bright lights of social media scrutiny.
