Here’s how to read the ‘Genshin Impact’ manga

Now more accessible!

Genshin Impact is one of the biggest RPG gacha games that’s compatible with PC, mobile, and PlayStation, and has recently won the ‘Players’ Voice Award’ in the 2022 Game Awards. The game is still ongoing with only four out of the seven regions openly available for the player to visit.

Alongside the ongoing narrative that’s in the game, and the upcoming anime series produced by Unfotable, the studio behind Demon Slayer, Genshin Impact also has its own manga series. These stories took place right before the events of the traveler’s arrival in Teyvat and featured some of the characters that we’ve met in the game.

So if you’re interested to read some extra Genshin Impact lore, here’s how you can access the official manga.

Accessing the official Genshin Impact manga isn’t difficult. Those keen to read some extra Genshin Impact content can easily access these stories on the official Hoyoverse website. The manga used to be on WebToon before it was added to the game’s website. And unfortunately for physical collectors, the manga series is not available to be bought in stores as physical copies.

The manga currently has 13 chapters, each telling a story of the various characters in Mondstadt, alongside the introduction of Cyno and Collei from Sumeru. Some of these stories involve character backstories that were eventually mentioned in the game, as well as more information about the character’s relationships with one another. An example was a reference to Collei’s backstory and how it was mentioned when Sumeru was launched last year.

While reading the manga isn’t mandatory, it was announced by Hoyoverse via Press Release that the Version 3.5 update will feature Collei’s return to Mondstadt for the Windblume Festival. And according to the Version 3.5 “Windblume’s Breath” trailer, there might be some dialogue from characters that may reference these stories.

While Hoyoverse does try to make sure that people are up to speed, reading the manga might be needed if you want more context about these characters.

Genshin Impact is now available to download on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, and mobile.
