Although unforgiving in their frosty bitterness, these past few winter months have given us the greatest Christmas gift of all: a heaping load of anime to binge-watch. Some of the more significant standouts include JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean Part 3, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV Part 2, and In/Spectre Season 2. As we’re fast-approaching March, the Northern Hemisphere welcomes the sweet relief of spring, in turn preparing us all for summer — the favorite season of many (and for good reason). Officially, spring begins for the US, the UK, and all other Northern countries on March 20, lasting all the way through until June 21. That means we have three-months worth of anime to cover, the majority of which are all releasing during the month of March, so there’s a few extra months free to indulge to one’s heart’s desire.
In 2023 alone, we’re anticipating a new Pokémon series (sadly, no more Ash and Pikachu), Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, an untitled Spy x Family movie, and even Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos The Movie. That’s all arriving in the later months of the year, so it’ll require a quick Google search to confirm the release dates of those — if they’ve even been announced yet. It appears 2023 is proving to be a prosperous year for anime, which only began finding its footing in mainstream media around a decade ago. Once thought of as a niche interest, anime has slowly but surely overtaken the likes of Marvel and Star Wars as the world’s most popular and profitable form of media. Once upon a time, it was considered ‘uncool’ to enjoy anime, but nowadays, anyone who’s anyone has seen a least a handful, and if you haven’t, you’re the odd one out.

Upcoming anime isn’t the only thing attractive about the spring; days start to get longer (so there’s more hours to enjoy one’s hobbies — mostly anime), snow begins to melt as the weather gets warmer (don’t we all hate the cold?), plants begin to grow and flowers to bloom (ah, pretty!), and animals awaken from hibernation (but don’t ever try to hug a bear). Fun fact: children actually grow faster during the spring. Didn’t know that? Well, now you do. Go forth, with all your knowledge of growth spurts and anime, and do wondrous things.
