Whether you love it or not, we’re in the middle of a golden age of Star Wars content for television. With The Mandalorian currently in the middle of its third season run, and Ahsoka coming a little later in the year, one series we have scant details on is Leslye Headland’s enigmatic High Republic-era series The Acolyte.
Being the ravenous Star Wars consumers we are, we’ll take any morsel of information we can get our hands on – and the latest tidbit comes by way of one of the upcoming series stars, Jodie Turner-Smith.
Speaking with Collider on the promotional circuit for Murder Mystery 2, Turner-Smith seemed to reveal whether or not she plays a Jedi (she didn’t wield a lightsaber in her scenes), which directors she worked with, and which actors she did or did not act opposite:
“Obviously, the subject matter is different. It’s different when everything that you’re doing is light-hearted, and that’s not what I was doing for Star Wars. But I was working with my favorite director that I’ve worked with so far, Kogonada, and under the leadership of Leslye Headland. It is incredible to see. I can’t wait to see how this show turns out.”
Turner-Smith’s comments also allude to a darker tone for the upcoming series, which is certainly promising considering The Acolyte is reportedly going to be a lot more Sith-driven compared to other projects in the franchise.
Jodie Turner-Smith isn’t the only star getting grilled for any shred of detail about The Acolyte, with Amandla Stenberg (who Turner-Smith didn’t have any scenes with) recently attempting to reveal as much as she can “without getting fired.”
