All the new and returning clones in ‘Clone High’ season two

Most of the main cast returns for 'Clone High' season two with the exception of one problematic member.

After twenty years, Clone High is finally getting its second season. Fans of the series have been campaigning for decades for showrunners Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Ted Tasso) and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, 21 Jump Street) to revitalize the cult favorite, originally released on MTV in 2003. The first season was plagued by low viewership, but it was controversy over the depiction of Mahatma Gandhi that led to the series’ cancellation after only a single season.

It goes without saying then that Gandhi will not be making an appearance in the series going forward, but that doesn’t stop a slew of familiar clones from making a comeback for season two. Clones from 2003 have been frozen alongside the main characters, so fan-favorite background clones are likely to return, though the creators have been tightlipped about who we can expect to see. While much of the principal cast signed back on for the series, there are some exceptions. Several actors have stepped aside so that more ethnically appropriate talent can bring their characters to life.

The main cast of clones

Clone High/ Max

Abe Lincoln

The primary protagonist, Abe lives up to his namesake in many ways. A good friend, Abe is honest and generally does the right thing whatever the situation. Originally in love with Cleopatra, Abe realizes his longtime friendship with Joan has strong romantic undercurrents at the end of the season. He is unable to tell her his true feelings, however, after being frozen just moments before he could profess. As of season 2, Abe is struggling to fit in with the new social norms of Clone High. Will Forte (Last Man on Earth) reprises his role as Abe Lincoln for season two.

Cleopatra

The typical popular mean girl, Cleopatra was the queen of high school in 2003. After 20 years, however, the former queen bee of Clone High has lost her crown to Frida Kahlo. After playing with Abe and JFK’s affections in the first season, she loses both boys to Joan of Arc. As of season 2, she is struggling to find her place in the new Clone High. Originally voiced by Christ Miller, Cleopatra will be voiced by Mirta Jouhari (Big Mouth, The Big Sick) from season 2 onwards.

Joan of Arc

A sarcastic, snark-filled goth girl, Joan of Arc is a cliché “art girl.” A feminist tomboy, Joan is considered unpopular during the first season. Initially in love with Abe, she hooks up with JFK at the end of the first season. After being reawakened in season two, she is considered a “cool kid” for her counter opinions and worldly views. Nicole Sullivan (Scrubs, The Sex Lives of College Girls) is reprising her role.

JFK

The clone of John F. Kennedy, “JFK” is a loud, arrogant, handsome jock. While initially he and Abe fought over Cleopatra’s affections, the end of season one saw JFK and Joan of Arc get together. In Season two, he is fully dating Joan of Arc and his loud opinions on sex are considered “sex positive.” Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) reprises his role as the 35th president.

Supporting Clones

Alongside the primary cast there are plenty of clones that have enhanced the series. While not all of the supporting clones from the original run have been confirmed, there are several that Lawrence and Miller would be crazy to leave off the cast list.

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo is the new class president, the resident cool girl, and the “hottest girl in school.”  She is an activist and painter, living up to her real-life counterpart. While this isn’t the first version of Kahlo to appear on Clone High it appears that the original has been retconned completely for the updated version. She is voiced by Vicci Martinez (Orange is the New Black).

Confucius

One of the 2007 clones, Confucius is sort of like a YouTube influencer, but with a bit more introspection sprinkled on top. Like many of the other clones, he struggles to live up to his predecessor in the modern age. Not much is known about the screen-addicted teen just yet, but he is clearly on his way to main cast status, appearing frequently in promotional material. He is voiced by Kelvin Yu (Bob’s Burgers).

Harriet Tubman

While Harriet Tubman is no stranger to the cast of Clone High, the character has been reworked for a leading role for season two. The spunky, purple-haired Harriet Tubman is more excitable than the original version. Awash with artistic talent, she describes herself as a “multimedia expert skilled at writing directing, overthinking, second-guessing, self-loathing, unraveling, and regrouping.” She is voiced by Ayo Edebiri (Big Mouth).

Marie Curie

The mutated clone of Marie Curie was a recurring cast member of season one. Her disfigurement comes from the extensive radiation levels present in her donor’s corpse. She appears in the trailer for season 2, and her consistent presence in the original series likely means she will remain a constant. She is voiced by Nicole Sullivan.

Sacagawea

As a 2007 clone, Sacagawea hasn’t been seen in the series so far. She is set to make her debut in the first episode of the second season. She will be voiced by Jana Schmieding (Reservation Dogs).

Van Gogh

A series regular for season one, Van Gogh is unthawed with the rest of the 2003 clones at the beginning of season two. The anti-hero was fairly popular among fans, so there is a good chance he will make a comeback in season 2. Van Gogh is voiced by Andy Dick (Zoolander).

Christopher Columbus AKA “Topher Bus”

Christopher Columbus makes his debut in season two. Hyperaware of the dangers of being canceled, he does his best to steer Abe away from social morays. He goes by Topher Bus to avoid anyone connecting him back to his donor. He is voiced by Neil Casey (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Big Mouth).
