Lauren Boebert used to be one of Donald Trump’s most vocal cheerleaders, now the two are practically at war after the Colorado Rep pushed to force a vote on transparency with the Epstein files. The president responded by vetoing a bill to improve infrastructure in her district which had been cleared by the House and the Senate with unanimous consent.
Less than a year after he became president, Trump has already managed to divide his own party and turn even his most loyal followers against him. What with the fallout between him and Marjorie Taylor Greene and now Lauren Boebert, the president is losing allies and fast.
The Colorado Rep launched a savage attack against Donald Trump this week accusing him of “political retaliation.” For those not in the know, the president blocked the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act, which, according to an article from The Daily Beast, would have seen the completion of a long-delayed clean-water pipeline which would have served 50,000 people.
Lauren Boebert claims the veto was retaliation
Trump tried to argue that the federal government should not be responsible for paying for “expensive and unreliable policies.” However, Boebert has suggested that his true motivations for blocking the pipeline were political in nature. “I sincerely hope this veto has nothing to do with political retaliation for calling out corruption and demanding accountability.” Boebert commented, going on to add that the bill was “completely non-controversial.”
Could Trump really be petty and vindictive enough to block clean water for 50,000 people just to get back at someone for questioning him? Yes, of course he could. The president has shown time and time again that he has an incredibly fragile ego and he often throws a tantrum whenever the Epstein files are brought up, so this isn’t a surprise at all.
Trump will throw anyone under the bus if it means protecting his dirty little secrets, Boebert seems to have completely cut ties with him over the whole handling of the files, stating, “Americans deserve leadership that puts people over politics.” For once we can say we agree with her on something.
Lauren Boebert was one of a handful of Republicans who went against the demands made by the White House and pushed to force a vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Despite pushback from her party she refused to back down and the act was passed and the DOJ started releasing records on December 19, although most of them were heavily redacted.
Regardless, it’s hard to see Trump’s move in Colorado as anything but retaliation for Boebert’s little coup although it seems the lawmaker is still ready and willing to fight. In a post made to X earlier this week she warned “This isn’t over.”
