‘Whoever did this is a total loser’: Woman picks up suitcase at Miami International, spots something on it that stops her cold

An unpleasant surprise!

A traveler named Rachel, a content creator on TikTok, recently found a swastika symbol stuck to her suitcase while waiting at the baggage carousel at Miami International Airport. She filmed the moment and posted it online, where the video has since gained more than 674,000 views. In the footage, she zooms in on the black suitcase to show a sticker shaped like a swastika, which looks similar to the barcode labels typically used for luggage tracking during handling.

According to Brobible, Rachel made her feelings clear in the video caption, calling whoever did it “a total loser.” She confirmed that the airline has been notified and is currently investigating how such a symbol ended up on a passenger’s bag.

The response on TikTok has been mixed. “I would sue the airline people need to be held responsible for their negligence”, one person commented. Others expressed sympathy, with one commenter saying it is “gross that these things are still happening in 2026.” Some skeptics, however, questioned whether the sticker would have stayed on through the baggage carousel process.

Antisemitic hate crimes in the US remain at near-record levels, and incidents like this are part of a much bigger problem

The FBI defines hate crimes as criminal offenses motivated by bias against race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or disability. The Bureau considers them a top priority under its Civil Rights Program because they are intended to intimidate entire communities, not just individual victims.

According to data from the FBI, there were 11,679 hate crime incidents in the United States in 2024, which is the second-highest total since tracking began in 1991.  That is a slight drop from the 11,862 incidents recorded in 2023, but the numbers are still very high. More than half of all reported hate crimes are motivated by bias related to race, ethnicity, or national origin, with anti-Black incidents making up the largest share.

Religion-based hate crimes rose by 3.1% year over year, and among those, anti-Jewish incidents accounted for nearly 70% of the total, even though Jewish people make up only about 2% of the US population. Vandalism, which is what Rachel experienced with her suitcase, remains one of the most commonly reported categories of hate crime, alongside intimidation and assault.

This is not the first time Miami has dealt with hate crime incidents lately. CBS News reports that on January 19, 2026, a video surfaced showing a group of YouTubers at a Miami Beach nightclub called Vendôme listening to an antisemitic song.

The club posted a statement on Instagram on January 18, 2026, calling the content “deeply offensive and unacceptable” and saying they “do not condone hate speech or prejudice of any kind,” adding that they were conducting an internal review into how the song was played.

Miami has also been in the news for other unexpected reasons, such as women trying to outsmart Waymo’s self-driving robotaxis only to find the robots were one step ahead. Local leaders also spoke out about that nightclub incident.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner both condemned it, with Mayor Meiner calling it “disgusting” and stating that “there is nothing funny about historical atrocities.” As for Rachel’s suitcase incident, no follow-up video has been posted, and neither the airline nor the airport authority has publicly shared any findings from their investigation so far.
