A Tampa Bay man is claiming that a chicken wrap he purchased from Burger King contained something he could not identify, describing what he found inside as gummy, glistening, and clear in texture. He shared his experience in a TikTok video that has since drawn more than 500,000 views.
The man, who goes by the username hotrod_the_adliber on TikTok, said he ordered a honey mustard chicken snack wrap from a Burger King location. According to the video, he noticed something was off while eating the first of two wraps he received.
He tagged Burger King, Spectrum Bay News 9, and FOX 13 News Tampa Bay in the post’s caption, calling the situation “unacceptable and unsafe” and urging people to share the video.
The video details what the creator said he found while eating his order
In the video, the creator said the bag felt unusually heavy when the Burger King employee handed it to him. He claimed he questioned the employee about it, suggesting he may have been given two sandwiches by mistake. According to the creator, the employee told him that it was simply how the order was.
As he began eating the first wrap, he said he noticed something with an unusual texture while pulling at the food. “It’s gummy and like gooey,” he said in the video, describing the moment he took a closer look. He said at that point, he was “almost about to throw up.”
He described what he allegedly found as “a clear, glistening, gummy, like, texture” and said it did not appear to be chicken meat. “Half of it was like chicken, the other half is like some gooey stuff,” he said, adding that he initially thought it might be cheese or sauce before concluding it was neither.
“I look at it, bro, bro, it’s not even chicken meat,” he said in the video. He also stated that he believed it could be raw chicken, though he said he was uncertain. “Is that raw? They really gave me raw chicken. That’s what I’m thinking. But now that I look at it, it’s not even chicken. I don’t know what it is,” he said.
The creator said he did not finish the second wrap because he was too concerned to eat it. He also said he experienced nausea after eating part of the first wrap. “My stomach right now is already kind of like nauseous from it,” he said. “I’m hoping I don’t have food poisoning, but I just may, because if that’s raw meat, that’s a problem.”
In the video’s caption, the creator wrote: “Please address this! This is unacceptable and unsafe to serve. Raw food is a no go! People share and be safe.” He also used the hashtags #burgerking, #rawfood, and #fastfood, among others. Similar concerns about food safety have been raised by a Canadian woman says she found mold on her half-eaten Burger King Whopper.
Toward the end of the video, he issued what he called a public service announcement, saying: “Do not eat the chicken at Burger King. I don’t know if you guys can even see it, but that’s not even chicken.” He added, “Burger King, y’all gotta do better. This is what y’all serving?” He also stated that he would not order chicken from Burger King again, saying, “I promise I will never eat another chicken sandwich or anything chicken from Burger King.”
According to nutritional information listed on Burger King’s website, the chain’s BLT Chicken Wrap contains 656 calories per serving, along with 55 grams of carbohydrates, 36.6 grams of fat, and 25.5 grams of protein. The listing also states the item contains 3.5 grams of salt per serving.
Burger King’s website also lists allergen information for the item, stating that the BLT Chicken Wrap contains wheat, celery, and gluten. The listing further states that the product may contain milk, eggs, soy, and mustard, and may contain fish due to shared equipment during preparation.
The video has drawn a number of comments from viewers. One commenter wrote, “The solution to this problem is to stop eating fast food. Cook your own food at home.” Another commenter suggested the creator send the item for testing, writing, “I’d send that to an independent lab for testing and drop a lawsuit depending on the outcome.” The creator replied to that comment, saying, “have to figure out how to do thatv.” Similar discoveries of unexpected substances inside fast-food items have led other customers to suggest legal action.
A commenter weighed in, writing, “It’s raw but it ain’t chicken..” The creator responded, “thats what i was saying.” Burger King has not publicly responded to the video as of the time of this writing.
