Woman visits Krispy Kreme and gets trapped beside a grumpy stranger. Then they gets nasty with the staff and lashes out: ‘mind your business’

Customer service members say they can't stand such customers.

A trip to Krispy Kreme got very contentious for TikTok user @sarah.chio, and if you ask her now, she’d tell you she doesn’t see why any of it was necessary. Sarah immediately took to the social media platform with her doughnut still in hand to tell people something she wishes she had practiced: “You don’t need to be nice to everyone.”

She explained that she walked into the outlet and encountered the normal kind of chaos people expect when dealing with the friction of everyday life: a line at the cashier that requires just a bit more patience than you have, and kids in the corner of your eye playing with all the enthusiasm in the world. In her TikTok, Sarah says she’s a mom, so she’s already used to these kinds of things.

Then another older woman approached her and started complaining about the kids, saying that she doesn’t think people who let their kids play like that in public should be “allowed” to have kids.

It was one issue after another

Sarah says she already knew she was about to have to sit through an unhinged conversation, so she did what she always does: smile through it until it ended. However, Sarah says this particular incident tested her patience beyond her usual limits.

After complaining about the kids, the grumpy stranger then started focusing on her leather shoes, which apparently had water on them. At this point, Sarah says her strategy was just to nod along to everything and let the conversation naturally die by giving non-inviting answers.

Still, she says the woman insisted that the shoes should not touch water, then started arguing with the staff because Sarah’s order was taking too long. Sarah says that the entire time, she was just trying to get the woman to relax and leave her alone. At one point, Sarah exclaims, “I was just like, lady, mind your business.”

Sarah says that even after the woman got her order, she was still trying to stick around and watch Sarah as she picked up her own order. Perhaps she was just going about making new friends in the wrong way, but by this point, Sarah was fed up with her.

It got to the point where the woman started arguing with a staff member because she hadn’t gotten a serviette yet. But Sarah says nobody knows what a serviette is in the U.S. anymore. She added, “Just say napkin!”

Customer service members can’t stand such customers

Sarah said the woman probably just needed an outlet and took out whatever was going on with her on the people at that Krispy Kreme that day. One user in Sarah’s comments wrote, “As someone who works in customer service, I’m always willing to be nice to customers; it’s my job lol. But as soon as I get a cranky customer, I’m still willing to do my job properly until they start insulting. It just annoys me how infuriating customers are over fast food.”

A lot of other users in the comments also suggested that a lot of conflict can be avoided if we were all just kind to each other.
