Arizona man allegedly wanted to try makeup at Sephora, his sister calls it ‘weird.’ Then she threatens to expose him to his girlfriend: ‘You’re a guy’

Who knew that a single tube of concealer had the power to set off a beauty-counter standoff between a man and a woman, playing out in a TikTok video now gone viral?

The clip comes courtesy of Alyson Rose, a Scottsdale, Arizona makeup creator who posts as Aly. It continues a long-running series she has set at Sephora — one in which she typically performs every role in the scene herself. 

The video, titled “a crazy experience I had working at Sephora,” never specifies whether the exchange replays something Rose witnessed behind the counter or was invented for the camera, but the scenario is nonetheless intriguing, to say the least.

In this video, she shares how an employee color-matches a woman without a second thought. When the man next to her asks for the same product, the woman objects.

During the opening, a woman comes in for concealer and gets a walkthrough. The product “goes under your eyes, and it helps with dark circles,” the employee explains, and offers a shade match. Asked whether the man with her is her boyfriend, the customer clarifies that he is her brother.

Then he speaks up. “Can I get one of those?” The employee’s reflex is helpful, offering to color match him too, before his sister jumps in. “You’re a guy. And you can’t wear makeup,” she says. “You’re straight.”

The employee presses her for a reason, and she supplies only that “straight guys can’t wear makeup.”

The conversation escalates to an ultimatum

The employee sides with the brother and pushes back, saying there is nothing “weird” about a man wearing makeup. The sister doesn’t budge, and instead reaches for leverage. “I don’t think your girlfriend would approve of this,” she says, before drawing a harder line: “I can’t let you buy makeup.”

He tells her she is not the boss of him. Her answer is to reach for the girlfriend, threatening to phone her and report that he is buying makeup to wear himself. The brother and the employee object, and the video closes with the sister doubling down: if he goes through with the purchase, she says, she will call right then.

“Please let the girlfriend be completely and utterly supportive and put the sister in her place,” one user commented, garnering near 2,000 likes.

Given how abruptly the video ends, and Roses’s track record of relaying these skits in two parts, it’s safe to assume a follow-up might be coming soon.
