NY Burger King customer allegedly waits 12 minutes for meal, claims it’s ‘hard as a rock.’ The manager offers a refund, but he’s still not satisfied

They didn't make it "his way."

Burger King has spent much of 2026 promoting a brand transformation centered on customer feedback, restaurant operations and food quality. The chain has revamped the Whopper, introduced new menu items and even created a restaurant manager role designed to help resolve customer complaints.

Against that backdrop, a New York Burger King customer’s heated complaint, shared on TikTok, is drawing attention. A man in the clip claims he waited 12 minutes for food he described as cold, dry, and “hard as a rock.”

TikTok creator Jt Lo (@jtlo21) shared the drive-thru encounter in August 2026. In the video, he asks an employee to get the manager before explaining his side of the story.

The manager offered a refund, but the customer wanted his food remade.

Lo alleged he and another person had waited for fresh food and believed they had made that request clear to the employee who took their order. He then claimed his crispy chicken meal arrived cold. “I’m not gonna eat,” Lo claimed in the video.

He then asked for his money back and complained about the food. “It’s dry and hard as a rock,” he said. Lo also compared the food to something his dog would struggle to eat, saying, “My dog would break his teeth if I gave this to my dog.”

The video also appears to show mayonnaise on the side of Lo’s mouth as he continues the exchange with the manager. The manager offered a refund, but Lo wanted additional compensation for the time he said he spent waiting. He asked about receiving two $10 coupons for the inconvenience. The manager told him he could not provide that amount.

Lo then asked whether he could receive additional food along with a refund. “Give my food plus the money back,” he said, before returning to his complaint about the inconvenience. The exchange escalated as Lo repeatedly said he wanted more than a refund. At one point, he asked for “double the money” because he was upset.

Burger King has made changes to help address situations like these.

The complaint comes as Burger King publicly emphasizes consistency and customer feedback. In February, the company invited customers to call or text President Tom Curtis directly with comments about their experiences.

Burger King also said in July that it was introducing “Your Way Champions,” a reworked restaurant manager role intended to give restaurant leaders more authority to address guest concerns. The company announced the role alongside its Whopper Guarantee, which it described as another response to customer feedback.

Under the Whopper Guarantee announced in July 2026, unsatisfied guests receive a remade burger plus a QR code and digital coupon inside the box for a free Whopper on their next visit. And while corporate introduced “Your Way Champions” to empower local managers to resolve complaints, franchise management still adheres to strict policies regarding cash payouts, product replacements, and coupons.

Earlier this year, Burger King also changed the Whopper’s bun, mayonnaise and packaging, describing the updates as the first major changes to the sandwich in nearly a decade.

The manager in the JT Lo viral video asked for the receipt number, and Lo eventually provided it. The video does not establish whether Burger King ultimately provided anything beyond the refund discussed in the exchange.
