Nato And Remy’s Last Stand: 2013’s Independent Horror Hits

While keeping up with all the mainstream horror releases of any year might be hard enough, it's even harder to view all the lesser-known independent features that are released each and every week. While Video On Demend services give smaller films the audience they deserve, it's sure making life hectic for film fans and reviewers. It's nearly impossible to keep up with the always growing backlog of horror films, and even I can admit a few films were missed I would have loved to see - but both Remy and I did our damnedest to catch every film in our power. Dedication, thy name is insanity.

While keeping up with all the mainstream horror releases of any year might be hard enough, it’s even harder to view all the lesser-known independent features that are released each and every week. While Video On Demend services give smaller films the audience they deserve, it’s sure making life hectic for film fans and reviewers. It’s nearly impossible to keep up with the always growing backlog of horror films, and even I can admit that a few films were missed that I would have loved to see – but both Remy and I did our damnedest to catch every film in our power. Dedication, thy name is insanity.

Some people don’t fully understand what the life of a critic is like, simply saying, “You get to watch movies every day, how hard can that be?” What they don’t realize is that yes, we watch movies all the time, but we have to watch a movie whether it’s good or bad. There’s no looking at a synopsis and passing on it because it sounds like garbage – you have to sit through a film no matter how awful an experience it is. Luckily, I’ve been able to bring some guests along for some truly abysmal films, and they’re starting to see that this technically is work. Then again, here I am complaining about watching movies. Problems, right?

Anyway, the point of this week’s article? Independent horror – and specifically the ones that really impressed us. No negativity this week here at the Last Stand, we’re staying positive and bringing you some independent horror worth your time! You don’t have time to watch every single movie out there, and that’s something Remy and I understand – so we’ve done the work for you. If you continue reading on, you’ll find eight horror films that are worth their weight in gold amidst the other billion independent releases that clutter your Video On Demand menus. Hope you enjoy these titles as much as we did!
