First Clip For Captain America: Civil War Is Coming Sooner Than You Think

With Peyton Reed's Ant-Man teetering on the edge of its international release, the movie industry is bracing itself to be swept up the Marvel fanfare for the second time this year. As arguably the biggest creative risk since Guardians of the Galaxy, there is certainly a lot riding on the film's minute shoulders, though it's worth noting that Reed's flick is already off to a "solid" start with critics.

Beyond that, though, Ant-Man represents a crucial turning point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. Sandwiched in between Age of Ultron and the hotly-anticipated Captain America: Civil War, we can readily expect next month’s release to be chock full of world-building easter eggs, not to mention the two post-credits scenes.

As a matter of fact, the company’s head honcho Kevin Feige recently dropped a megaton for Marvelites the world over by revealing that one of the stings will contain the first clip of next year’s Civil War.

Asked when we can expect to see the first footage from Joe and Anthony Russo’s sequel, Feige revealed that the tail-end of Ant-Man will indeed introduce us to the calamitous event, adding that “yes, that is material shot for Civil War.”

When pressed for further information, the executive producer was wary of spoiling any of the secrets ahead of time, opting to compare the post-credits easter egg to that found in Iron Man 2. Don’t expect it to be indicative of the final product, but it’s nice to know the clip is arriving sooner rather than later.

“It might be different takes, it might be different angles. Somebody brought up the comparison to the Thor tag at the end of Iron Man 2, which was material shot for the Thor film but we cut slightly differently.”

Captain America: Civil War will divide the Avengers in a way Ultron could have only dreamed when Joe and Anthony Russo’s threequel arrives in theaters on May 6, 2016. In the interim, you can let us know your thoughts on Feige’s recent comments down below.

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
