Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot was a disaster. The director took to Twitter on the day of release to publicly disown the movie (which had been plagued by troubling rumours since day one), and a number of reports followed, revealing the shocking and bizarre behaviour of the filmmaker on set.

Throw in reports that Fox made his life pretty difficult with budget cuts and unreasonable sounding demands, and it’s ultimately far from a surprise that the film, which stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell, was a huge critical and commercial flop upon release.

As a result of that, the fate of the Fantastic Four franchise is unknown.
