If photos and an extended trailer weren’t enough to whet your appetite for the midseason finale of The Flash, The CW has now released a full clip ahead of tonight’s episode that sees the return of one of the most prolific men to portray supervillains over the past quarter century.

We are, of course, talking about Mark Hamill, who has played various iterations of both the Joker and the Trickster since the early 1990’s. Since reprising his role as the latter on The Flash, it became quite obvious from the start that this version of Trickster was written more like the Joker, with Hamill obviously using his now infamous character voice that was once exclusive to the Clown Prince of Crime. It’s as if the producers said, “hey, Mark, use your Joker voice when playing Trickster. We doubt a single fan will complain.”

In the newly released clip, we see Hamill return as Earth-3’s Trickster, who looks a whole lot like the Jokester, which that universe’s version of the Joker from the comics (yes, we realize this may start to get confusing). We can only assume this was the closest the producers could get to actually having him play the Joker in live action, but it’s possible they didn’t get clearance to use the name.

For more details concerning the midseason finale, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

With Alchemy and Savitar still looming threats, Barry (Grant Gustin) is unable to focus on the Christmas holiday, and especially his relationship with Iris (Candice Patton). Determined to stop Savitar, Barry goes to Earth-3 to get advice from Jay Garrick (guest star John Wesley Shipp). Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) wants to help Barry fight Savitar and reveals that he’s been training with H.R. (Tom Cavanagh), which doesn’t go over well with Barry. As Cisco (Carlos Valdes) faces his first Christmas without his brother Dante (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez), old wounds are reopened. Rachel Talalay directed the episode with story by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing and teleplay by Lauren Certo.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on The CW.
