FX’s Archer has been known to reinvent itself before, especially during its later seasons. The last outing found the gang moving to Los Angeles to start their own private detective agency, and season eight finds them in a new place entirely, “Dreamland.” But that’s not the only change set to come to the show.

As seen in the trailers above and below, Archer is not only going to enter a new era — as he and the gang now find themselves in a 1920-era detective noir, with the titular character as a private investigator who searches for the man who killed Woodhouse, his partner — but a new station, as well. That’s right, season 8 will find Archer moving to FX’s sister station, FXX, which is home to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, You’re the Worst, Man Seeking Woman and countless Simpsons re-runs.

Archer season 8 premieres sometime this spring, with voice actors H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, Amber Nash and Jessica Walter all expected to return to the voice booth for another outing of spy mischief and mayhem. After last season’s shocking twist ending, this newest season continues to find the show creators pushing to reinvent themselves in unique ways. Who knows how long it’ll last, but it definitely keeps things interesting.

Additionally, Archer will be meeting a bunch of new characters for the first time, which will be voiced by the returning voice cast. Here’s what executive producer Matt Thompson said about the matter during the show’s Comic-Con panel this past summer, as noted by Indiewire:

All the characters have changed, but they haven’t changed. It’s really exciting to see Archer walk in and meet Lana for the first time.

We’ll have to wait to see how things play out when Archer returns later this year, but we’re certainly excited to see yet another fresh take on the series.
