Iron Fist Season 2 Will Likely Feature The Classic Costume

Marvel's latest Netflix series, Iron First, disappointed many fans in a number of ways. Common complaints included the plodding narrative, the mixed quality of the performances and the dodgy characterization. Perhaps the most annoying issue of all, though, was the lack of the classic costume from the comics. The only glimpse of it we got was in a grainy black-and-white flashback.

Thankfully, this glaring error is apparently set to be fixed in season 2. At least, that’s according to star Finn Jones, who said the following during an appearance on the HHWLOD podcast:

“I think moving forward to Season 2, we’ll see something like that [the classic costume]. Personally I hope we get the wispy kind of ripples at the back of the mask. That’s a super cool effect. I think it would actually be annoying, the logistics of it but I think it would look really cool.”

If Jones is right about his hunch, then this is great news. Clearly, Marvel and Netflix are fully aware of the criticisms the first season of the show received and are looking to appease fans in the future. For instance, Jones also recently spoke about how Danny Rand would be more “mature” in The Defendersmoving the character away from his negatively received portrayal in Iron Fist.

There’s been no official word on the show’s second season just yet, but we assume it’ll happen at some point. Fans will likely have to wait a while to see it, however, as this year will bring with it The Defenders and The Punisher, while 2018 will feature Daredevil season 2 and Jessica Jones season 2. It’s most likely, then, that Iron Fist‘s sophomore run will debut in 2019, alongside Luke Cage season 2 – which is set to begin shooting next month.
