Citing a source close to production, OLV (via Screen Rant) has relayed a report claiming Luke Cage season 2 is due to begin filming today, June 6th, at Brooklyn’s Broadway Stages. Further details weren’t disclosed at this time, but it does align with Mike Colter’s previous estimation that production on the show’s second season would kick off in June ahead of a planned premiere in 2018. The actor even went so far as to suggest that his Power Man would smash his way onto Netflix in the early stages of next year – perhaps occupying a similar March premiere window that Marvel reserved for Iron Fist in 2017 – though there’s nothing to report on that front just yet.

Should OLV’s sources check out, though, Luke Cage will now join Jessica Jones on the streets of New York City, after a series of leaked set photos revealed Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) and Jones (Krysten Ritter) having a run-in with the city’s police force. It seems as though Ritter’s razor-sharp detective – a superhero nursing a drinking problem – hasn’t lost her taste for interrupting city-wide investigations, even if it means spending some time housed up in an interrogation room with only Misty Knight for company.

The second season of Luke Cage is reportedly one of three Marvel/Netflix offerings being angled for a release in 2018 – the other two being new seasons of Jessica Jones and the Charlie Cox-fronted Daredevil series. Should those allegations hold true, it would become the second year on the trot that Marvel and Netflix have delivered three seasons of superhero drama, with The Defenders (August 18th) and The Punisher (November?) all set to cap off this year’s lineup.
