Margot Robbie Says She’s Returning To Harley Quinn “Quite Soon”

Suicide Squad didn't get a lot right, truth be told, but something it totally nailed was the casting of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. The Clown Princess of Crime is one of the most popular figures in the DC canon nowadays so Warner Bros. needed to make sure they found the perfect person for the part. Luckily, they did with Robbie. What's even better is that the actress herself loves the role and wants to revisit Harley again and again.

While speaking with Collider to talk about her latest movie I, Tonya, the interview naturally turned to the subject of her future in the DCEU. Robbie was keen to talk about the former Dr. Quinn and made clear how much she enjoys embodying the character.

“I know! I didn’t get enough of her! I was like, “I need to keep playing her!” I love her so much,”

When asked how close we are to seeing her reprise Harley on screen once again, Robbie was very positive, going as far to say that it will be “quite soon.” However, she did warn that this could change due to the complexities of blockbuster filmmaking.

“I think we’re very close, actually. Everyone has been working really hard, myself included, to get Harley back on screen. I think it will be quite soon. There’s so much more to explore with her. I can’t wait! I hope next year, but with bigger films, it takes a lot longer to get it all up and running.”

This is the second time we’ve heard that Robbie’s hoping to revisit Harley in 2018. As for what movie she could be referring to, there are a few options. Not only is Suicide Squad 2 in the works, but there’s also a Harley Quinn and Joker movie floating around, not to mention David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens. Plus, Robbie herself announced recently that she’s working on a solo film for Harley.

While the future of DC’s linchpin heroes like Batman and Superman is currently hazy, it’s definitely good to know we can count on lots more from Harley Quinn in the next few years.
