All-Out War Unfolds In Preview For The Walking Dead Season 8 Finale

Check out our first look at next week's explosive finale to The Walking Dead season 8, which looks to conclude the year in style.

Tonight, The Walking Dead season 8 reached its penultimate episode, titled “Worth.”

Fittingly for this stage in the run, it saw conflicts boiling over in all directions. Aaron went to Oceanside in an attempt to recruit backup for the war against the Saviors, Daryl and Rosita encountered the turncoat Eugene for the first time in a long while and Negan returned from his exile to confront Dwight and Simon on their leadership in his absence.

As with many episodes this season, “Worth” was a wide-ranging ensemble piece that checked in on a number of the show’s central characters, which helped set the scene for next week’s finale. Speaking of which, our first look at the explosive season closer has now been revealed, in the form of this promo and sneak peak, giving us a taste of what’s in store for Rick Grimes and his allies in the season’s last hurdle.

The official synopsis for the episode, meanwhile, teases the following:

The communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors as all-out war unfolds.

“Worth” will bring about the long-awaited conclusion to the “All-Out War” storyline that’s formed the backbone of season 8, wrapping up the threat of Negan and his Saviors, who’ve been lording over the survivors since season 6. Star Andrew Lincoln has promised that it will be “epic,” “very emotional” and will deliver a “smorgasbord” of different storylines with an “unusual structure.” Excited yet?

One thing we do know about the episode is the location of where the final conflict between the allied communities and the Saviors will take place. Instead of the showdown happening at Alexandria or the Hilltop or the Sanctuary, everything will come to a head in a wide open field, setting the scene for a grand, old-fashioned battle. Lincoln teased that it will create a “phenomenal” climax, too, which we can’t wait to see.

Be sure to catch the season 8 finale of The Walking Dead when it airs on AMC next Sunday, April 15th.
