Pennsylvania man allegedly held his child’s mother and her family hostage, then forced her to lure new lover to a parking lot so he could run him down

Prosecutors in Pennsylvania accuse a man of keeping his child’s mother, her mother, and the child captive for several days. They said he then made the woman contact another romantic partner and set up a meeting so he could try to run that person over.

Tylar Greenough is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and kidnapping to inflict injury or terror. Additional charges include burglary, two counts of unlawful restraint, and three counts of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another.

Court records reviewed by Law&Crime show he is being held in the Fayette County Jail without bail. The case was filed on Monday. Authorities said the incident took place several days earlier but did not immediately answer a request to name the exact date of the alleged kidnapping.

Prosecutors say Greenough entered the home despite an active protection order

Authorities said a woman was inside her Lincoln Street home in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, with her mother and a child she shared with Greenough. The city is in the southwestern part of the state, about 50 miles south of Pittsburgh.

The Fayette County District Attorney’s Office said the woman had an active “Protection from Abuse Order” against Greenough. The office still alleged that he entered the home “by climbing through a second story window.”

“He held the victim, her child, and her mother against their will,” the DA’s office said, stating that he threatened them with a gun. Authorities claimed Greenough attacked the women “over the course of several days between that home and a nearby hotel.” Allegations of unlawful restraint and forced marriage have surfaced in other cases, such as when a woman was allegedly forced to marry a man at gunpoint.

A criminal complaint obtained by regional ABC affiliate WTAE stated that the defendant, at one point, put one of the women in the trunk of a vehicle and forced her to arrange a meetup with a new romantic partner. Greenough then apparently tried to run over the other partner with the vehicle.

The DA’s office said “[b]oth victims sustained significant bruising and injuries related to the assaults,” ostensibly referring to the two women. Such domestic violence cases in Pennsylvania can escalate to extreme violence, like when a man allegedly slashed his girlfriend’s throat after their breakup and then fled the country while posing as her.

Uniontown police officers arrested Greenough on Tuesday “after he re-entered” the Lincoln Street home. He was reportedly in possession of a gun, which he was not allowed to possess as a convicted felon, and the woman whose home it was was not there.

Court records show Greenough had a preliminary arraignment on Tuesday and is set to appear again for a preliminary hearing on September 10. He also faces a charge of contempt for violation of an order or agreement, with a court date of September 14 on that case.
