The witches are on the march.
Following weeks of casting announcements and suitably spooky story updates, FX has today announced a mid-September premiere date for American Horror Story season 8.
That’s right, the AHS season that is said to be unlike anything we’ve seen before will be with us on Wednesday, September 12th, when Ryan Murphy and his team will peel back the curtain on that long-rumored “Coven/Murder House” crossover.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, it’s shaping up to be a fairly busy corridor for TV’s biggest networks, what with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX), Mayans MC (FX), the Sons of Anarchy spinoff from Kurt Sutter, and Bojack Horseman (Netflix) all slated for early September. Season 8 of American Horror Story faces a tall order if it’s to win over the lion’s share of that all-important 18-49 demographic, though we’re quietly confident that Murphy can bring the goods.
There’s still no mention of season 8’s title – rumor has it that Ryan Murphy has earmarked “Radioactive” to reflect this year’s near-future setting – but if there’s one thing we do know, it’s that FX has wasted no time in welcoming back its most famous witches, including those played by Emma Roberts and Taissa Farmiga.
Other members of the ensemble cast include long-time AHS veterans like Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Joan Collins, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman. Billie Lourd is also a lock for season 8.
Save the date: Season 8 of American Horror Story will be summoned onto the small screen on September 14th, and only then will we know what Ryan Murphy and Co. have planned for that long-anticipated crossover between “Coven” and “Murder House.”
