First Official Arrowverse Crossover Pic Teases A Returning Character

While John Wesley Shipp may not be the only actor to have enjoyed a prolific career in the superhero genre, he's certainly one of only a few to have embodied various characters pertaining to one specific icon. As you surely know, he played the Scarlet Speedster himself, Barry Allen, in The Flash TV show that aired back in 1990, before voicing Eobard Thawne AKA the Reverse-Flash on Batman: The Brave and the Bold many years later.

While John Wesley Shipp may not be the only actor to have enjoyed a prolific career in the superhero genre, he’s certainly one of only a few to have embodied various characters pertaining to one specific icon. Of course, he also further cemented his legacy by popping up in two distinct roles on the currently running Flash series on The CW: First as Barry’s dad, Henry Allen, and then as the Flash of Earth-3, Jay Garrick. Now, he’s set to return in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, titled “Elseworlds,” and after getting a look at him via a set photo just mere hours ago, producer Marc Guggenheim has shared what appears to be the first official pic from the event, and it features Mr. Shipp.

Accompanied with the caption, “After seven years, this just might be the coolest thing we’ve ever done… @JohnWesleyShipp,” you can check it out for yourself in the gallery down below along with that aforementioned set snap.

Of course, there’s not much we can take from this image, as it’s a rather dark shot and only shows us John in his 90s Flash suit, but it’s a nice little tease nonetheless and Guggenheim’s caption only has us that much more excited. I mean, if he’s calling this the “coolest thing” they’ve done in the Arrowverse‘s history, then you can bet that The CW has something very, very special in store for us with “Elseworlds,” which isn’t too far off now.

For those who don’t know, the fun begins on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10 with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11 with Supergirl.
