But on April 25th, things will really kick into high gear when the series finale itself graces screens and presents this universe’s iteration of Batman. Appropriately titled “The Beginning…,” the official synopsis sets the stage for what’s to come:

The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs in the all-new “The Beginning… ” series finale episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, April 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-510) (TV-14 L, V)

Based on that, I think it’s safe to say this episode will feature Bruce Wayne’s first night out as the Dark Knight, as opposed to showing him in his prime. Furthermore, it appears as though Penguin and Riddler will be among the first villains to receive a thrashing, but a chain reaction should occur soon afterward when the Joker emerges after years of being catatonic in Arkham Asylum.

Speaking of which, I couldn’t help noticing Cameron Monaghan being credited simply as “Jeremiah Valeska,” so here’s hoping we actually hear the word “Joker.” Here’s the list revealing the guest cast itself:

Cameron Monaghan as Jeremiah Valeska, Richard Kind as Mayor Aubrey James, Francesa Root-Dodson as Ecco, JW Cortes as Detective Alvarez, Kelcy Griffin as Detective Harper, Jeté Laurence as Barbara Lee Gordon

Though I’m thrilled to see the return of Ecco, I must point out how the adult versions of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle aren’t credited. Still, we’ve gotten confirmation of Jeté Laurence playing a young Barbara Gordon, so that’s something. I guess we’ll have to tune in for Gotham‘s series finale in order to see how it all plays out.
