Ezra Miller Now Set To Return As The Flash After Fantastic Beasts 3

As with many of the cast of Justice League, Ezra Miller's future with the DC universe has been called into question ever since the aforementioned team-up movie flopped hard back in 2017. Unlike, say, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, not all of the signs are pointing to Miller saying goodbye to his role as the Flash. In fact, some info is now claiming that he's set to reprise the part of Barry Allen in due course.

In their “Power of Pride 2019” list, highlighting some of the most talented LGBT actors in Hollywood, Variety dropped something interesting in their entry on Miller. According to the trade, the actor will be moving onto the long-awaited Flash movie once he completes work on Fantastic Beasts 3

“Miller, who plays the ultra-swift superhero The Flash, will get his DC Universe stand alone film as soon as he wraps up his work on the “Harry Potter” spinoff series “Fantastic Beasts,” writes Variety.

Though nice to hear, this is in contrast to rumors we’ve heard before. Back in March, it was revealed that Miller disagreed with the grounded, light-hearted take on the character from directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley and had come up with his own script for the Scarlet Speedster’s solo movie alongside comic book legend Grant Morrison. From what little we know, their screenplay was inspired by Flashpoint.

Further developments then pointed to Warner Bros. preferring Goldstein and Daley’s script, which likely meant that Miller would walk from the project. After all, the actor’s DC contract expired in May and we haven’t heard anything about it being renewed. But now Variety’s telling us that Miller’s still attached to the project, so who knows?

As for Fantastic Beasts 3, that was pushed back to earlier this year with production now likely to begin this fall or early 2020. So, if this intel’s correct, that could mean The Flash will shoot later that same year. Could it finally be with us in 2021? Time will tell, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear more.
