The big Star Wars event of 2019, The Rise of Skywalker turned out to be a damp squib. So thank heavens we at least got The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau's Western/Samurai inspired Disney+ show kept things relatively small-scale, showed us some neat parts of the Star Wars universe and featured an incredible cast. But there was one element that elevated it to the cultural stratosphere: Baby Yoda.

With the Clown Prince of Crime a very hot property in the wake of Joker's wild success, plans are already being formulated for how this version will distinguish itself from the competition. Right now, we're hearing that Warner Bros. want Johnny Depp (or someone like him) for the role, but now we've heard a little as to how they envisage this new Mr. J.

Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle Was Inspired By A Classic 90s TV Show
Netflix's hit new show Too Hot to Handle couldn't have been better timed. The reality series takes ten hot young singles to a luxury retreat where they compete for $100,000. The twist is that they're penalized for doing anything sexual. To the legions of viewers shut up in their homes without human contact of any kind (save for that which they can rhythmically apply themselves), watching these frustrated contestants grow ever thirstier is very easy to identify with.

Star Trek EP Says He Hopes Gene Roddenbery Would Be Proud Of The New Shows
While Star Trek: Picard was certainly not a perfect show, I appreciated that at the heart of it was a thorny ethical quandary. At its most basic level the show was about Romulans totally convinced that synthetics would bring about the destruction of all organic life versus the victimized synths struggling to find a place to call their own. Picard was stuck in the middle of the situation, struggling to resolve the situation without unnecessary conflict. The situation could feasibly have happened in The Original Series of Star Trek, which seems to be what executive producer Alex Kurtzman was hoping for.

Star Trek’s Jonathan Frakes Reveals He Once Played Captain America
Marvel Studios nailed it when they cast Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America. His performance radiates wholesomeness, determination and bravery while never feeling smarmy. But while Evans is obviously the most recognizable Cap, a few other actors have taken on the role over the years. Matt Salinger (the son of The Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger!) played the part in the terrible 1990 movie and there's also a 1944 serial based on the character.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Creator Says It Won’t Be Delayed By Coronavirus
Mike Flanagan's The Haunting of Hill House was equal parts sad and terrifying. Watching a family torn apart by their shared trauma was pretty depressing, let alone when they start coming back as genuinely scary ghosts. The story concluded nicely at the end of its first season though, so the sequel, The Haunting of Bly Manor will be a completely separate tale featuring some of the same cast in different roles.
