I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Ask most people who their favorite Batman is and you'll probably get a few saying Christian Bale, maybe some saying Michael Keaton and few classier types naming Adam West. But for me there will only ever be one true Batman: Kevin Conroy. Conroy has been providing the voice of the Caped Crusader since the 1992 debut of Batman: The Animated Series, and has continued in the role throughout all the Diniverse series, multiple DC Animated films and Rocksteady's smash hit Arkham series of video games.
I've got a growing sense of optimism about Ghostbusters 2020. Director Jason Reitman has demonstrated a genuine love for the franchise, the direction the film is taking sounds interesting, it seems that most of the original cast will return and hell, it tickles the heartstrings to see Ecto-1 rolling down the street. Now star Finn Wolfhard, who has one of the coolest names in showbiz, has been waxing lyrical about his time on set. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wolfhard described the shoot as "really fun".
John Williams' score for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be his final contribution to the franchise. It's generally accepted as fact that his score for Star Wars: A New Hope went a long way towards making the film the success it was. Those who saw the 1977 original without his music thought it looked extremely silly - but add John Williams and everything suddenly becomes profound, epic and exciting. His relationship with the franchise has endured throughout the Skywalker Saga, with his themes as iconic as lightsabers, TIE Fighters and the hiss of Darth Vader's breathing.
When Brie Larson said some incredibly straightforward and sensible things about feminism during the promotional campaign for Captain Marvel, she may as well have waved a red rag at a perpetually insane bull. Said bull is composed of online trolls whose primary motivation in life is campaigning against the 'SJWification' of media, usually movies, television or videogames. To this end they spent a very long time concocting false stories about Brie Larson and the movie.
For most people, the stories of Harry, Ron and Hermione ended at the conclusion of The Deathly Hallows - Part 2. After defeating Voldemort, we got a touching coda that showed our heroes as adults, passing on their knowledge to a new generation. But those who've attended the hit West End and Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child know the full story, which follows Harry and Draco's children Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy as they team up in an attempt to save Cedric Diggory from his fate.
The news that Kevin Hart had been involved in a serious car accident in Hollywood caused an outpouring of good wishes from friends, family and fans from around the world. We were told that Hart had suffered major back injuries during the crash and had undergone emergency surgery soon after. Fortunately, we also learned that said surgery had been a success, with the actor expected to make a full recovery.
Star Wars Battlefront II released back in November 2017 and, with the might of the Star Wars license behind it, sold fairly well. With the original Battlefront coming two years before that, you might expect that we'd start hearing news about Battlefront III around now. But when it comes to this title, things aren't so simple. Despite a raft of well-produced DLC, Star Wars Battlefront II never managed to shake the stigma that it was designed to squeeze as much money out of players as possible.
Last night's Nintendo Direct was amazing. Highlights for me were the confirmation of Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard and Undertale's Sans to Smash Bros Ultimate, the reveal that SNES games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online and the completely out-of-the-blue announcement that Deadly Premonition is getting a sequel on Switch next year. Beyond all that there was also a wealth of information revealed about Pokémon Sword And Shield, including the unveiling of two new (and very odd) creatures for the new game.
When Wattson was added to Apex Legends as part of the game's second season, most players welcomed the new defensive options she provided. In a title that's largely about movement and reflexes, her skill set allowed folks to play a bit more cerebrally and create safe spaces within the map that her teammates can regroup in. She quickly became quite popular, though it seems that Respawn examined the way she was being used, decided she was a bit overpowered and nerfed her in the latest Voidwalker patch.
