New Report Reveals The Behind The Scenes Drama On Captain Marvel
Despite the legions of naysayers predicting that Captain Marvel would be a flop, it's gone on to be yet another billion-dollar success for Disney and Marvel Studios. A great deal of the film's marketing focused on it being the first female-fronted superhero effort in the MCU, and to bolster these feminist credentials, the studio seemed determined to make sure as much of the behind the scenes talent as possible were women. One key factor in this was the June 2018 announcement that Captain Marvel would be the first MCU film released with a score by a female composer, Pinar Toprak.

The Crown Has Cast Its Princess Diana For Season 4
One of the biggest unanswered questions about the future of Netflix's The Crown has just been answered. For a long time we've been wondering which actress they'd pick for the key role of Princess Diana, who is set to play a huge role in seasons 4 and 5 of the lavish hit. Our only hint to date has been a casting call that said the show was looking for “A mesmerising new young star with extraordinary range. She has to play charming comedy, flirt and social exhibitionist on the world stage, desperate and lonely self-harmer at her lowest ebb and the kind of psychological intensity of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby.”

First Trailer For Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Documentary Looks Amazing
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was a genuine departure for the franchise. Prior to DS9 the series had a focus on exploration, with TOS and TNG following roughly the same template of the crew of a ship encountering a new situation and solving it every week. But Ds9, set on a space station situated at a strategic location, wasn't afraid to get complicated. While there were episodes following the usual Trek template of exploration, there were also ones examining interstellar trade, political manoeuvring and the morality of the Federation (and its complex relationship with the rest of the galaxy). It was great!

Apex Legends Has Permanently Banned Cheaters And They’re Not Happy
Apex Legends is no longer the hot new thing in town. After skyrocketing in popularity and picking up an impressive playerbase soon after release, the game recently had a minor wobble with the release of the Season 1 Battle Pass. The justifiably poor reception of what was contained within seems to have kicked off a minor backlash against the game, and an update appearing to wipe player progress and items certainly didn't help. But there's one thing that seems to be driving everyone crazy: the amount of cheaters spoiling the game.

Prince Harry Would Like To Ban Fortnite In The United Kingdom
The United Kingdom's Prince Harry has said that he thinks Fortnite should be banned from the UK. Yeah, jog on mate. The remarks came during an appearance in London where he participated in a discussion with mental health experts on the dangers of videogames and social media. During a speech in which he claimed that social media was more addictive than drugs and alcohol (no it isn't) he touched on Fortnite:

We're just three weeks out from Avengers: Endgame, and the press tour has officially kicked off. This promises to be a busy couple of weeks for the film's stars, as they face an endless carousel of chat show appearances, promotional events, premieres and interviews. Some actors can barely conceal their boredom at this part of the job, but at least Robert Downey Jr. seems to be having fun.

Rian Johnson Doesn’t Mind If J.J. Abrams Retcons Rey’s Parents In Star Wars: Episode IX
One of the best moments in Star Wars: The Last Jedi came when Kylo Ren neatly squashed countless fan theories about who Rey's parents were, explaining: "They were filthy junk traders. Sold you off for drinking money. They're dead in a pauper's grave in the Jakku desert. You come from nothing. You're nothing. But not to me." Making Rey talented in her own right rather than merely inheriting Jedi skills through her bloodline makes for a much more interesting character, not to mention that it's a nicely egalitarian bit of writing. That's not to say it wasn't controversial amongst the fanbase, many of whom have desperately hoped that J.J. Abrams retcon it in Star Wars: Episode IX.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Was Going To Feature Cable, And Kill Him Off
Josh Brolin's take on Cable in Deadpool 2 was widely praised. Acting as a much-needed straight man to Ryan Reynolds' wise-crackin' goofball Merc, the two eventually made up and went on to become best buds when Cable decided to stay in the present day. Hopefully we can get to see the pair hanging out again in X-Force or Deadpool 3, assuming that the Fox/Disney merger doesn't put the brakes on the project (though right now things look good), but it turns out that Cable nearly wasn't in Deadpool 2 at all. And that's because Bryan Singer wanted to use and kill him off in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Ghostbusters 1 And 2 Getting 4K Release With Never Before Seen Footage
Do you remember that very odd moment in a montage in the middle of Ghostbusters where it appears that Dan Ackroyd is having some kind of sexual encounter with a ghost floating above his bed? It's been raising eyebrows ever since the film's release, with fans of the movie poring over old scripts to try and figure out what it was intended for. Now known as the "Fort Detmerring Ghost", the scene consists of Ray and Winston investigating a haunting at an old military fort. Ray ends up trying on an old officer's uniform, before a ghost appears and uh... well. Let's just say "bustin' makes you feel good".
