You might think a glossy Hollywood biopic about Thomas Edison starring Benedict Cumberbatch alongside Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, Tom Holland and Tuppence Middleton would be a sure-fire money-spinner. But think again, because The Current War has been in the can since late 2017 and it's only now getting a release. Why has the film suffered this fate? Well, primarily because it's got Harvey Weinstein's gross-ass fingerprints all over it.

Apparently There’s A Universal Soldier Reboot In The Works
Universal Soldier is a rare movie franchise that actually got better in its later sequels. The original and its follow-up The Return are basically okay schlock, but 2009's Regeneration was a weirdly great film (and Van Damme was brilliant in it) and Day of Reckoning wasn't half bad either (we'll ignore the intensely crappy made-for-TV movies, which were quickly retconned out of existence).

Is This Our First Look At Gotham’s Version Of Harley Quinn?
Gotham is a fascinatingly odd take on the Batman mythos, so I was glad to hear the show had been granted a fifth season in order to round out its story. Though the upcoming final outing is a shorter run than usual, the show seems determined to bring as many Batman villains as possible to its universe. This season, we know we're going to get Shane West as Bane, Cameron Monaghan's weird-ass not-Joker and now it seems that Francesca Root-Dodson is going to be playing Harley Quinn. Or at least, a Joker girlfriend who is very, very like Harley.

Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum Wants In On James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2
Michael Rosenbaum is definitely among the sanest people to have emerged from the cast of Smallville - in that he didn't join a sadomasochistic religious sex cult and engage in human trafficking. So, he's got that going for him. What he doesn't seem to have is much of a big screen presence as judging by his IMDb page, he doesn't look to have anything of note coming up. That might be why he's angling for a part in James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2.

Johnny Depp Confirms He’s Returning As Grindelwald For Fantastic Beasts 3
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hits cinemas in just over a month, but we're already hearing details about Fantastic Beasts 3. The sequel is set to shoot in summer 2019 with a release date already set for November 20, 2020. As we don't know what's going to happen in The Crimes of Grindelwald it's difficult to make any predictions about what'll happen in 2020 - but we do know that Gellert Grindelwald will be back (and presumably committing many more crimes).

New Titans Promo Hits Back At Deadpool For Making Fun Of DC Being Dark
While the Merc was getting stabbed in the neck by Cable (before they were best buds), he delivered one of the funniest lines of Deadpool 2, saying: "So dark! Are you sure you're not from the DC Universe?" Now, upcoming TV show Titans has hit back at this criticism by uh, *checks notes* posting a video on Twitter (seen below) showing Robin bloodily beating up some guys with a pipe and then telling "Mr. Pool" to "suck it."

The Internet Reacts To The First Look At Ruby Rose’s Batwoman
Today we finally got a look at Ruby Rose in costume as Batwoman in advance of her debut in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover "Elseworlds". Tying in plotlines from Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow, the crossover will take our heroes to Gotham City to team-up with Batwoman after an inmate at Arkham Asylum conjures heroes from all over the multiverse (I'm really hoping the Psycho Pirate is involved).

World War Z 2 Still In Development, Will Shoot Summer 2019
2013's World War Z might've ended up as a commercial success, but it had a hell of a bumpy ride along the way, with its lengthy production consisting of extensive reshoots and script re-writes. But that's nothing compared to its sequel, World War Z 2, which has been in development for three years now with no signs of ever moving into full production.

Zoe Saldana Confirms She’ll Return As Gamora In Avengers 4
Gamora's a pretty tough cookie, but you'd think even she would be hard-pressed to survive what Thanos did to her in Avengers: Infinity War. Apparently not, though, as she's going to be back for Avengers 4, as marked by this video posted by Zoe Saldana on social media showing her getting her green on. It looks like a pretty laborious process and she appears even more alien and strange without the wig on.
