As Avengers: Endgame continues its world-conquering run at the box office, one particular scene is attracting some attention for introducing the franchise’s first openly gay character. As the opening weekend of Avengers: Endgame first got underway, many were predicting that the film would beat the all-time record for biggest box office debut, both globally and domestically. Nonetheless, few could’ve imagined just how huge the movie’s first few days would be.
For the upcoming Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, former teen heartthrob Zac Efron of High School Musical and Greatest Showman fame is very much cast against type as the murderous Ted Bundy. And while the star was attending the film’s London premiere, he admitted that he had some trouble leaving his role on the set.
While the concluding genocide of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War ensured that Avengers: Endgame didn’t have to juggle quite so many characters in its early minutes, the new movie ultimately boasted the largest cast of any MCU flick to date. Over the weekend, the hashtag #ThankYouAvengers has been trending on Twitter, as fans reflect on the recent era of superhero cinema that the new Avengers: Endgame draws to a close. Just as we were all predicting, Avengers: Endgame brought some closure to the arc of Captain America. But while we’re clearly meant to interpret this week’s release as Steve Rogers’ swan song, it’s perhaps still worth speculating whether or not Marvel Studios might give the First Avenger any further outings somewhere down the line. And in case you still haven’t had a chance to check out the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, be warned that some pretty big spoilers lie ahead.
