Those of you who've kept up with my Supernatural coverage will likely remember how I've stated that I've been a fan of the seemingly neverending horror series since the pilot episode first aired back in 2005. As such, I've been witness to all of Sam and Dean Winchester's adventures, some of which have been better than others.
Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Worlds of DC (formerly known at the DC Extended Universe) and the Arrowverse existing over on The CW, it's just expected that superheroes in live action make up some sort of shared continuity. And when it comes to the upcoming DC Universe streaming service, it's very much understandable that folks anticipated the tradition continuing with Titans, Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol.
As you may have noticed, Sector 2814 is home to more ringslingers than most others, for Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz are all able to proudly call themselves members of the Green Lantern Corps. And when it came to speculating which of those would headline the upcoming film, it was understandable that each had a generous amount of fans backing them.
These days, it's not entirely uncommon for actors to have played more than one comic book character. When discussing this topic, the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck, Brandon Routh and Chris Evans immediately spring to mind, but this seems to be an ever-expanding club.
Though many of you reading this no doubt lament NBC’s cancellation of Constantine to this day, you have to admit that its early demise certainly opened up a world of possibilities for the character. Had the plug not been pulled, the charismatic demonologist would’ve never been introduced into the Arrowverse, let alone granted a recurring role on Legends of Tomorrow, in addition to a headlining gig in his own animated web series/movie, that being City of Demons.
Whenever a major comic book event rolls around, we anticipate for at least one character to bite the dust, right?
In keeping with such expectations, Marvel seemingly knows how to keep the tradition alive, as the currently ongoing Infinity Wars looks to check off that requisite box. Already, we've learned of how it'll yield bizarre hybrids amalgamating some of our favorite heroes, but today's news comes as being a bit more somber.
With each passing year, it seems like we’ve come to expect for Tom Cavanagh to give yet another take on Harrison Wells. After his initial attempt – the Reverse-Flash – met its (first) demise all the way back in season 1’s finale, the show’s sophomore year saw the actor stick around as Earth-2’s Harry Wells. Then, Earth-19’s H.R. Wells graced TV screens in season 3, before Harry came back for the latest run following the death of his replacement.
After managing to survive the formidable threat that was Reign last year, one can only ponder how the creative minds behind Supergirl can possibly craft a worthy new foe for the Maiden of Might. Naturally, we're all looking toward Kara Zor-El's Red Son-inspired doppelganger that's residing over in Russia, but everyone over in Vancouver's been pretty mum regarding that subject.
When it was revealed a few months back that Batwoman will be introduced in the next major Arrowverse crossover, the first place where many fans' minds went was a possible instance of "shipping" involving Sara Lance and Kate Kane. But lo and behold, Legends of Tomorrow will be sitting this one out, so that knowledge doused said flame for the moment.
No doubt about it, Arrow has had some memorable big bads to call its own during the previous six seasons. No matter which you prefer, Malcolm Merlyn, Deathstroke, Ra’s al Ghul, Damien Darhk, Prometheus and Ricardo Diaz each brought something unique to the table. But as we head into season 7, we find ourselves in a different situation, for “The Dragon” is still in the wind.
